PDQ 41 Power Catamaran

Design Highlights

Unlike many of our competitors, we didn't want increased size to be the only new feature on the new 41 Power Catamaran.

The primary objective of building and launching a bigger Power Catamaran is to include design elements not currently available on the PDQ 34, including a master suite with a walk-around bed, a second guest head and a cockpit with access to the water.

Hull Design

The individual hull to beam length ratio is maintained at 11:1 in order to capitalize on the catamaran hull form. Like the PDQ 34, the narrow hulls are maintained with wave-cutting bows that flare to deck. The flat runout buttock lines provide planing speed capacity with minimal drag and maximum stern support.

Capitalizing on the catamaran hull form

The bridgedeck to surface clearance has been maximized to 28-inches at the bridgedeck fairbody, and in combination with in-board hull spray deflectors and the cutwater, reinforce the foredeck and provide large wave handling comfort. The bridgedeck's cutwater (central rib) is also extended under the foredeck to support the anchor rollers.

Deck
The PDQ 41 features wide side decks, a double anchor system and custom stainless flush fairlead system. The foredeck has provision for double anchor rollers and optional second windlass. The anchor chain and rode free fall to generous lockers for smooth operation on molded-in anchor wells and chain runs.

Deck hardware and ground tackle system

The 18"-wide sided decks give free movement fore and aft so handling dock lines, fenders and locks is a breeze. The custom stainless steel fairlead system is flush mounted onto molded tow-stop, and molded stainless steel railing throughout the vessel with stanchions built onto custom bases makes moving around safe and convenient.

There are 10" stainless steel cleats - 2 on each bow, 2 amidships (port and starboard), and 2 aft. There are raised tank fill deck plates for port and starboard tanks.

Cockpit

The cockpit features large engine room hatches, a sheltered cabin entrance and ready access to the water. Move up to the flying bridge or side decks via ergonomic stairs with proper rise and rails. The wide, moderate rise transom steps provide easy access to the water or dock. The sheltered companionway is accessible from the cockpit and has convenient lockers for storage.

The cockpit features an ocean view master cabin with a solarium and optional
recessed skylight hatches.

Lockers aft and at the companionway provide lots of storage

There's even more storage beneath the bench for fenders and lines, or an optional live-well. Ship service batteries are located in a dedicated locker, and lockers aft and at the companionway are ideal for stowing shore power cords, boots, etc.

The Edson* davits have a working load of 250 lbs. *Please note, the supplier is subject to change. An optional aft bench is also available.

Access to the separate and spacious engine rooms is via large hatches located in the cockpit.

The engine rooms provide good service access with lots of space for optional mechanical equipment. The oil filters and maintenance items are conveniently located, and the hatches are wide enough to allow easy engine removal.

Flying Bridge
The arch is designed to fold down with a power option for navigation under low bridges. The arch can be fitted with a variety of antennas. The flying bridge is also configured with a provision for a double helmsman seat, settee area, table and optional galley equipment. The aft section has lots of room for a sunning mat.
